Vaccination Dose 1 Story (13 July 2021)

Updated: Dec 23, 2021

Finally! Finally after a year plus I'm finally being called for the vaccination! I'm quite thrilled to get at Convention Center as I knew the place going to be big and beautiful and lo and behold! I was right.

I had been told by many that the procedure is smooth and fast. I first hand experience the effectiveness of the whole procedure when I took my parents for their AstraZaneca shots.

With my appointment at 9am, the first batch, I am among the first 10 people to receive shot on that day (what an experience!). The hall is so cold! Luckily the whole procedure for me took less than 30 mins; first counter required me give my identity confirmation and fill in consent form, second counter a doctor take assessment of my health, checking of any allergies I had and finally informing me which vaccine I will be taking (here my case is Sinovac), on third counter is waiting area to get the injection, fourth counter is to receive my vaccine injection and finally the last counter is to monitor in case I have reactions.

Normal waiting time is 15 mins but because I have list of allergies of medications in the past, I was placed under 30 mins observation section.

Bangi Convention Center is rising and modernized new township of Bangi Avenue, is one of the largest multi-purpose convention centres in Malaysia

Turned out I do have reaction! Right after I received my injection, apart of feeling the pain at the spot I received my injection, my lefy wrist joints immediately hurts me, followed by my whole left arm. When I arrived at the final counter, I asked them would it be normal for me suffer wrist wrist pain, they become concerned; by right I should only feel pain on the injection area. As I wait 30 mins wait to over, the pain worsen, my left side neck begin to feel stiffed, my left leg joints started to feel pain and finally a terrible migraine on the left side.

I was taken to the sick bay and rested for another 30 mins. They gave me two panadols (painkillers) to ease the pain. I was checked and taking assessments by a very young health officer, but don't be fooled by her youth; she is very knowledgeable and I didn't need to explain my bipolar conditions and medications - she knows them all. I'm impressed.

CoronaVac, also known as the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine, is an inactivated virusCOVID-19 vaccine developed by the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech. It was Phase III clinical trialled in Brazil, Chile, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Turkey and relies on traditional technology similar to BBIBP-CorV and Covaxin, other inactivated-virus COVID-19 vaccines. CoronaVac does not need to be frozen and both the final product and the raw material for formulating CoronaVac can be transported refrigerated at 2–8 °C (36–46 °F), temperatures at which flu vaccines are kept.

Finally after I feel better and the pain subsided, they released me and I choose to have my photo taken. Some very kind strangers helped me to take some photos (both at the booth and at the park). I had been planning to wear lolita for the vaccination and I hope I gave some smile to the frontliners and even to other vaccine receivers.

MySejahtera is a mobile app developed by the Government of Malaysia to facilitate contact tracing efforts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia. The main goal is quick identification of persons who may have come into close contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

When you had been living in rural area that have NOTHING so you just shop everything possible. I spent almost Rm160! And I have the BEST corn dog ever! #noregret

So many road blocks! We were stopped in all because the current lockdown rule is only one person can travel (with legal paperworks to indicate why you travel crossing districts) and two people only within 10km radius of your ID card address registration.

My dad insisted to drive me to vaccine center, and I'm glad he did. I'm feeling the effect of the vaccine and very lethargic. During all the roadblocks I need to show to the police MySejahtera app - to inform we were travelling for the vaccine injection and for this case two people are allowed to travel in one vehicle.
