Another thing I keep seeing apart of the Saloma Bridge is the beautiful blue river (and mist) at Masjid Jamek area. Only today I learnt the name is "River of Life".
River of Life is one of Malaysia government's Economic Transformation Programs, an initiative which combines high-impact projects and programs to elevate the country to developed nation status. Divided into three main components – river cleaning, river master-planning and beautification – the USD1. Lights illuminate new walking promenades along the Gomback River near the Masjid Jamek Mosque.
Didn't expect to see Agent Ali and Alicia statues there. Nice touch.
And of course since the night still young, we decided to explore all the attractions in nearby area. This is my friend's idea to have me pose at the Kuala Lumpur mile stone.
To think all this year I never actually visit the historical Padang Merdeka is unbelievable.
Me trying to replicate Domagoj's pose at Budapest Heroes' Square in 2019. Close enough.
Merdeka Square (Malay: Dataran Merdeka) is a square located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is situated in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. Literally Independence Square, it was formerly known as the Selangor Club Padang or simply the "Padang" (meaning "field" in Malay) and was used as the cricket green of the Selangor Club (now the Royal Selangor Club).
It was here the Union Flag was lowered and the Malaysian flag hoisted for the first time at midnight (time: 12:00 AM) on 31 August 1957. Since then, Merdeka Square has been the usual venue for the annual Merdeka Parade (National Day Parade).
Nearby we discovered "Colonial Historical Walk" trail as part of River of Life project. Originally we weren't interested but somehow we ended up going through half of it.
Click to enlarge the images for details. This blog entry have better coverage of this trail :)
The trails have few cool spot for photoshoots. Also check this official pdf for the trail map.
