Big Bad Wolf (13 Dec 2015)

Big Bad Wolf Books (The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale or BBW Books) is a Malaysian book fair frequently held in Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates. The books were majorly taken from the stocks of BookXcess, a book store dealing in excess or remaindered books from international distributors. The Sale was the brainchild of BookXcess founders Andrew Yap and Jacqueline Ng. It was first held on 13–18 May 2009 for 5 days at Dataran Hamodal, Petaling Jaya (next to Kelana Jaya where I used to work and live for 8 years).

The book fair sells all kind of books genres, for example fiction, non-fiction, novels, literature, children's literature and young adult fiction. It also sells merchandise including collectible books and posters, wallpaper, movie posters, tin-plated signs and their own merchandise.

I have to admit the tapau (Chinese word 打包 (da bao) which means take away (food)) boxes are damn cute. This one-of-a-kind book sale works like a takeaway box where you buy a box at a fixed price and fit as many books as you can into the box.

You can choose between a RM99.90 'Big Tapau Box' which can hold up to RM2,000 worth of box, a 'Small Tapau Box' that costs RM79.90 or a combo of the two boxes called the 'Family Tapau Pack', priced at RM160. The size of the boxes are quite legit, so it's very worth it! - and ofc wallet crying and wailing and maggie mee for months.....

I can't remember but I think starting 2014 the biggest, end year Big Bad Wolf had consistently held at The Mines Convention Center as it have big hall (and cheaper rent!).

The downside tho, The Mines is quite far from KL, outskirt and nearly rural. Bus wasn't easy and there's no other public transportation access. Ofc the best way to go still with your own car as you might ended up buying plenty of books. Finding parking tho, is another story....

One of the nice part of the event is they allowed you to read. We usually spend hours reading to decide weather we wanted (to buy) the books or...well just read them.

A common sight of us. Every. Single. Year.

Books I'm taking regardless VS Books I want. But. Need. To. Check. My. Wallet. First.

It's always the wallet! And space too! By right so many books interests me!

Several times I took my family instead, or have 2nd round trip (first with my buddies and second with my family). As you can mum gone kuku (left), followed by Dean's selection and mine (right). Coming with family is more beneficial coz if mum is in good mood she would treat us (hehe). Even if she didn't we can still asked her to pay for us first. Eventually we all needs to sit down and think carefully which books we would wanted as my no longer have much spaces at home.

At times I'm not interested with the whole books but with just some images or cover so I snapped them. Usually it's easier to find book covers online than the content.

I really, really want, and nearly bought Ant & Dec Biographical book

One thing about The Mines it have a beautiful light park. The Mines is located in Selangor's Mines Resort City and is a "family-focused" shopping mall which provides shoppers with a complete offering of retail, entertainment and dining options. The Mines is well known for a Venetian-like canal running through the shopping mall.

It used to have a theme park and famous for it's snow house for people to experience winter. But over the years the park was badly maintained and eventually reduced to a free, light park for walks. A bit sad if you asked me.
