So I received messaged from my friend asking if I am interested with an upcoming free event at Genting. My fried know I had always wanted to go to a music festival so he think this is a goodd opportunity (not to mentioned it is held at Genting Highlands).
Plenty of fun in the cool breeze! Commencing only in the evenings for three consecutive weeks (Thursdays - Saturdays), the Genting Starlight Festival is an open-air carnival that promises good vibes and a fun atmosphere for people of all ages. Best part? Admission is free (it's located in the Central Park and Madison Square area, within the Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park!) and the excitement will last until the wee hours of midnight.
🌟 Event: Starlight Festival 2022
📍 Venue: Central Park & Madison Square*, Genting Highlands
📅 Dates: 29/09 - 15/10 (every Thurs, Fri, Sat)
⏰ Time: 6PM - 11PM
*Madison Square is open to non-Muslims aged 21 years and above only.
Yes, that's the part my friend and I noticed; Madison Square is open to non-Muslims aged 21 years and above only.We were wondering are they really serious about this? This is pretty absurd. Regardless we (and few more friends) decided to go as we all still wanted to go to Genting Highlands. We also agree if any of us couldn't adit the rest will go inside to enjoy while I can enjoy the park itself.
We chosen 13th October (Thursday) as I wanted to watch the Austalian Bee Gees impersonation. It seemed everone agree and we all took leave on Thursday and Friday.
The Starlight Festival
Well turned out they were ddamn serius not to admit Muslim to the festival. They asked and cehcked for your ID to confirm your age andd race/religion :( We really think this whole festival is acyually Octoberfest covered as a music festival tsk.
Anyway as planned I just enjoyed outside the park. From outside my friend (who decided not to go to the festival and accompany me instead) and I can hear the Australian Bee Gees's perfrmances and damn they really good! Especially when they covering Tragedy (perfect to described my situation and Malaysia situation as whole).
We caught the nightly fountain show at the Lake of Dreams (evening showtimes are at 6PM, 630PM, 7PM, 730PM, 8PM, 9PM, and 10PM). We went there several times and watch the shows at 8PM, 9PM and 10PM. The final show was Celine Dion's Power of Love.
As usual I need to make a Tik Tok video of it hahaha (with my "descrimination" note ofc).
PsycuSix
With my appetite satiated with all the food stalls around the Central Park, I strolled the Lake of Dreams for a mesmerizing fountain show, enjoying the music of buskers, The Pockets Mimers and was awed by the head-turning LED-dance moves of the iridescent-costumed “nouveau cirque” troupe, PsycuSix as they take centre-stage at the Central Loop!
[PSY·CU·SIX /ˈsaɪ-kə-sɪks/] International performance ventures have allowed Psycusix opportunities to dance and learn with many inspiring flow practitioners. Invitations to Singapore, Philippines, Hong Kong, Maldives, Korea, Taiwan, UAE, US and the UK have accommodated Psycusix to master flow and performance skills that have never before been seen in Malaysia. When Psycusix passes beyond the realm of bravery of controlling balls of fire, passion meets flow.
With the motto "When Passion Meets Flow" their performance is breathtaking! I am super happy to be able to watch them performed andd have photos taken with them.
Watching PsycuSix is definitely the highlight of the night, they really cheered me up after the Starlight Festival shennanigans. I am so glad to come to the festival after all.
Sky Avenue
Of course we all need to walk around Sky Avenue and enjoy the night time there.
We managed to watch the SkySymphony show. SkySymphony is a free-to-public performance showcasing an extraordinary orchestra of audio, visual and motion graphics programming. Immerse in spellbinding stories told through a dynamic transformation of 1,001 winch balls suspended from a four-storey high ceiling. Each performance is accompanied by larger-than-life cinematic visuals and original music mix.
Tonight show is titled Jungle Jam. From Genting official website, this is the show synopsis: The rainforest has erupted in music and dance! Shake it up and pump it up with the animals of the rainforest led by Genting’s Highland Heroes – Tabby the Tiger, Allie the Elephant, Joe the Orangutan, Geno the Dinosaur, Benny the Entertainer, and Callie the Dragon! Jungle Jam is an original SkySymphony production by Genting Studios.
