The Iron Fairies (26th March 2022)

Updated: Jul 16, 2023

Somewhere in 2020 I discovered The Iron Fairies. The place looks fancy and I love the aesthetic so I ha been planning to one day go there.

When I first bought this dress in 2019 I did said I'm going to wear for clubs. When I first saw The Iron Fairies I immediately think of this dress and I had been saving this dress for The Iron Fairies ever since. I just think the aesthetic is perfect.

To be honest when I first finally see the real place, I admit I was a bit surprised. I was expecting it was located in a high rise building instead of two floors building.

And today we realised The Iron Fairies name came from literal iron fairies decorations.

The Iron Fairies KL is the biggest outlet of the cult brand worldwide. Magic awaits as you stroll through this tactile wonderland. An iconic, magical bar designed like an ironsmith’s workshop with the artistic intricacies that enthral those who step into the world of Ashley Sutton (https://www.ashleysuttondesign.com/).

The place is a bit narrow than I expected but it's cozy regardless, and I must say the decorations is a lot more impressive than in photos (which is a very good news). After been wondering what are the things decorating the ceiling, today I learnt they're thousands glass bottles filled with colorful glitters with the label "Fairy Dust".

Now I understand why most people want the second floor; they have nice view of the performers. However because there are nine of us, we can't really occupy the top floor. Loving tonight's performer, he perform plenty late 90s longs, feeling very nostalgic.

I do find the foods expensive but I must admit they're kinda worth it. Only the foods tho.

As we went to the second floor, we discovered another, hidden section behind the backstage, The Butterfly Room. Instead of the fairy dust bottles, the ceiling is filled with butterflies. Apparently, this is the clubbing room and usually needs to book.

But because the place is empty they let us hang around for photos and videos.

It's great to see some old friends after not seeing them for two years due to Covid. From university friends, to ex-officemates and new people, it's nice to socialise again. Initially I thought I wanna experience clubbing in The Iron Fairies since I haven't been to one - they weren't any partying or clubbing due to the new SOP and pandemic.

Regardless we all had a blast (and me forgetting a glass of Coke cost Rm19 - and I ordered three times!), some of us planning for the second round in the far future. And maybe this time with Domagoj joining us. Cross fingers!
