Ok this is crazy. I'm not exactly a fan of Final Fantasy (apart of 12), but I admit I'm super stoke with FF15 because they finally change the gameplay a bit (and not to mentioned Noctis is hot). Our local gamer girls association, Malaysia Female Gamers (MFG) organized to go to the launching event.
Final Fantasy XV went live on 29 November 2016, and we at Malaysia were amongst the first in the world to be able to grab a copy! To celebrate this momentous occasion, PLAY Interactive (the Southeast Asia game distributor) partnered with Square Enix and Sony Interactive Entertainment, to organise a massive Final Fantasy XV Midnight Launch Event.
Goofing around with our bias at the big main poster haha. I actually didn't make the pre-order as I prefer to wait for pc version (PC master race ftw!) but I still go to this event to hangout with the girls (I've been member for awhile trough FB and never actually meet them irl), also I'm hoping to meet Wan Hazmer.
Before the final countdown to the official availability of Final Fantasy XV, Wan Hazmer (Lead Game Developer of FFXV), Falk Au-Yeong (Managing Director of SoundtRec Malaysia) and Alexander Fernandez (CEO of Streamline Studios) came out to talk about the development of Final Fantasy XV.
I nearly gone kuku to finally meet Wan Hazmer; he was the talk during my university years to be the first Malaysian (and Malay) to actually works in Square Enix. My leacturers even use him as an example during our classes.
As for Falk, I had known him for years through our local game community and IGDA events (The International Game Developers Association).
This is the first live play of the retail Playstation 4 version of Final Fantasy XV on a cinema screen… and arguably, the first ever in the world! The event host, Jeremy Teo, got to play it live in front of over 500 fans, with Lead Game Developer, Wan Hazmer, by his side.
As I mentioned before I didn't do pre-order as I prefer to wait for the pc version, therefore I couldn't enter the launching room. However by the miracle my friends actually managed to get me inside and I actually get to see the launching itself~
Last round before leaving I took some shots with local cosplayers. Overall it was pretty fun. I meet one of my friends and make friends with few that I still keep in contact to this day.
But the best of all, I continue to eet Wan Hazmer in our local game events and he actually still remembers me and we been keeping in touch ever since :D
